deep purple - soldier of fortune lyrics : I have often told you stories About the way I lived the life of a drifter Waiting for the day When I’d take your hand And sing you songs Then maybe you would say Come lay with me love me And I would surely stay But I feel I’m growing older And the songs that I have sung Echo in the distance Like the sound Of a windmill goin’ ’round I guess I’ll always be A soldier of fortune Many times I’ve been a traveller I looked for something new In days of old When nights were cold I wandered without you But those days I thougt my eyes Had seen you standing near Though blindness is confusing It shows that you’re not here Now I feel I’m growing older And the songs that I have sung Echo in the distance Like the sound Of a windmill goin’ ’round I guess I’ll always be A soldier of fortune I can hear the sound Of a windmill goin’ ’round I guess I’ll always be A soldier of fortune

Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968. Along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, they are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although some band members have tried not to categorise themselves as any one genre. The band also incorporated classical music, blues-rock, pop and progressive rock elements. They were once listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s loudest band, and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. Deep Purple were ranked #22 on vh1’s Greatest Artists of Hard Rock programme. The band have gone through many line-up changes and an eight-year hiatus (197684). The 196876 line-ups are commonly labeled Mark I, II, III and IV. Their second and most commercially successful line-up featured Ian Gillan (vocals), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Jon Lord (keyboards), Roger Glover (bass) and Ian Paice (drums). This line-up was active from 1969 to 1973 and was revived from 1984 to 1989 and again in 1993, before the rift between Blackmore and other members became unbridgeable. The current line-up including guitarist Steve Morse has been much more stable, though Lord’s retirement in 2002 has left Paice as the only original member. ________________________________________ Somebody, somebody, come to my side I’m tired, I’m crying, I’m sick inside My woman, that woman, just wasn’t right Help me now please my friend I never felt so bad before Never never before So funny, so funny, just like a
