Chapter Nineteen The Dungeon Gene’s journey upstairs hadn’t exactly been fun, but he found it far preferable to being shoved downstairs by a guard with hazey, orange, brainwashed eyes. He was brought to the bottom of a winding staircase, then to a guard with black eyes – one of Baliwick’s people, it seemed, rather than one he’d taken control of. “Two more prisoners,” said the one holding Gene’s arms. “Two more? Friday 17 th July Our overnight moorings in Tewkesbury were quiet and peaceful and the river hadn’t come up at all overnight so we were safe and secure.
